Mandatory Evacuation

On wednesday night light started a wildfire on the border of modoc and shasta counties.   Just 20 miles from our new lot.   I saw the smoke plume that night a bright firery red. Yesterday, Anna arrived home to our Valley full of smoke and the fire even closer, just about 10 miles from the lot.  We tried to sleep but tossed and turned most of the night with the sky  glowing red and fire trucks going up and down our Rd all night long.

This morning I drove the neighborhood looking for signs of fire or firetrucks or news from a neighbor.   Nothing.   Until about 8 am.  trucks started roaring down our street again.   The trees filled with smoke. I tried to take a picture of the smoke in the surrounding forest.

We decided it was time to get the car all packed and get on the rd.  Heres a picture looking out over the Meadow at the end of the side street.

As we were driving away we stopped and got an update from the sheriff and he said the fire was now about 2 miles away.  Good thing we were leaving, we thought.   Now in the car for a few hours we finally got an update from the fire hotline, our area is under a mandatory evacuation and the fire about a mile for our lot.   Thank goodness we got some stuff and our family out.  Hopefully we won’t return to a scotched lot and all our stuff burned.

Fingers crossed.
