Construction begins
This week my dad’s schedule allows him to come up and help start getting our little 12′ x 20′ cabin built. On Tuesday we took a drive up to klamath falls to get a truck load of supplies, mostly lumber. We were able to get enough to build the floor and some of the walls.
Once we got our things together we were able to start setting our pier blocks and beams.
At this point things stayed moving along pretty quickly. With just a few hours of daylight, we were able to get an 8′ section of the floor framed and tacked on some plywood before flipping the section and it getting to dark to continue.
Day 2 was very similar to day 1 but instead of an 8′ section of floor, we framed 12′.
After flipping the 12′ section, it was time for me to add our blocks while dad worked on switching out one of the pier blocks that broke when we flipped the big section.
It didn’t take as long to add the blocks as I thought it would because Ellie decided she would help us.
Filling the floor with insulation was our next step before tacking on plywood to create our floor.
After tacking on the floor dinner was ready and we decided to call it a day. A pretty good start if you ask me. Tomorrow calls for another day of shopping and some extra hands showing up here on the weekend.

Yaaaay! Can’t wait to see it all come together for you!
I am so proud of the off my “off the grid” family.
